Both men employed humor in their interactions with each other. One day Kennedy sent an aide down to Hatch's office to sing him a song, trying to persuade him to change his mind on an issue. It didn't work, but Hatch had a good laugh out of it.

I have no idea if you're interested in this topic, but I learned about it at the funeral of Kennedy. Orin Hatch and Ted were really good friends even though they each thought the other's philosophy was totally wrong-headed. In fact they were called the "odd couple" on the hill. Here are a couple of articles I pulled up reflecting what I heard about them. I guess if they can get along, there's hope for us. LOL!!!
