Have we as a society gone to far with what is advertised on RADIO & TV?

Today on my way to town @ 8.30 in the morning I was listening to k-rock. And could not believe what I heard. It was a comercial for Sex toys. I just about craped my pants. I have kids that are considered tweens. I let them listen to that station all the time. Well that was until today. I believe that is way beyond the the limits of what should be on the radio. What the adults do in the privacy of thier bedrooms should stay there. I was talking to a friend about it later today and she said that she found her daughter on the very same website advertised on k-rock looking at the stuff her daughter is eleven. When questioning her daughter about she discovered that kids had heard about from the radio/tv and were checking this stuff out on the internet.

So I believe that those things should be on tv/radio unless is a ppv thing that the adult is veiwing in an controled enviroment.

I am just in shock that we have let our society get this uncontrolled! We need to make things like this change.

I have a hard time believing you let your kids listen to K-Rock frequently during the morning hours and have never been offended before today. During that time of the morning, the Bob and Tom Show is on, and their program is full of inappropriate content. It's not just the commercials, but the entire show. That's what you get when you listen to a nationally syndicated program rather than a local station. I was much more fond of K-Rock when they had local deejays such as the Boatman the The Bear. I typically flip through radio stations in the morning, so I hear just about everything. I usually listen to Oldies, but it's gone now....sniffle, sniffle. So I'm looking for something new that would appeal to my age group. K-Rock plays lots of the older stuff, but it's a little too "hard" rock for me.

I never said they listened to at exactly 8.30AM. And yes I dont typically listen to bob & tom. And you are missing the piont about the topic. And you are right bob and tom do go to far with their topics also.

Sorry about getting off topic. I guess I was just sounding off about local radio. I understand your points, too. And yes, we have gone too far as a society to let such content be broadcast over our airwaves, either radio or TV. Times have certainly changed!

It's all a part of the pornifcation of America. From Super Bowl commercials to ads for television shows, from radio ads to spam and soon-to-be spam directly to your kids' cellphones- we've lost all moral decency as a nation.

Victoria's secret is that stuff is uncomfortable--according to female friends!

I agree Sugar!
I let my kids watch things with boobs in it, big deal, but I hate those movies about cutting people up and the stupid National guard ads at the theater--join the NG and go to other countries and kill people!
No disrespect to our soldiers

Nothing wrong with us a parents teaching them that sex is about love not just a physical thing!!!!! I DO NOT WANT MY CHILDREN LEARNING FROM A RADIO AD THAT GIVES THEM THE EXACT WEBSITE TO FIND THE STUFF. If two adults want to do that in the privacy of there bedrooms go for it. I am not so closed minded to think things dont or wont happen. I was a teenager once too. If i heard about that when I was a teenager again I probably would be the first one to go look for it. And that is my point. kids do things that they shouldn't. So if we can prevent some things from happening why not prevent it.

Sugarkisses do you have kids? And if so do you want them looking at this stuff? And the original topic wasnt about sexy clothes it was about an ADULT website. So get your head out of your butt and read everything before you put a STUPID INMATURE statement like that on here.

And if that kind of website is what you want your kids looking at i think you need to re-question your morals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was absolutely shocked the other night, we were watching a movie called blood and wine, I think it was called that, but it continuously kept saying the F Word on TV, so my husband asked me what channel we were watching, and I checked and it was THE FAMILY CHANNEL...I was like WHAT???? not showtime or HBO, but the family channel...
TV has gone way too far, and our son's time is limited watching it as you never know what we are going to see or hear, and now that he is 11, his favorite show is 2 and a half men...definatley not age appropriate in my eyes, but its on a t 7 p.m.
I guess I am going to have my hands full for his tween years....

Writing letters en masse does work. Even email letters. It's time.

Is it just me or isn't there anyone out there concerned more with the gruesome violence that is on every single channel every hour of the day. It's been my experience that most kids just giggle when they see suggestive behavior or language that is way beyond their understanding. But as far as the disgusting violence that's on every major channel, we know that it actually affects the chemistry of the brain, exposing it to massive amounts of adrenaline and other harmful chemicals that can actually alter the brain permanently. I can't believe things like CSI where they talk about extracting the skin of a corpse from under a murderer's fingernails and think nothing of the children who are watching. I watched one episode of medium and was disgusted to see that it showed a cute furry little dog being tortured. The trailers are just as bad. I remember one time I was watching my little "adopted" granddaughter and ads for Jurassic Park came on. I jumped in front of the TV because the ads of the T Rex were frightening to adults let alone 3 year olds. What do you think guys?
Doesn't the level of serial killer, murderer, rapist, cop killers, torturers and so on bother you?

I don't know maybe the sexual stuff is embarrassing to us as adults trying to deal with young children who are watching, but I think the violence hurts the KIDS more. Wish we could come to a consensus and actually do something about it.
I feel sorry for those of you who have young children at home and who have to deal with all of this.

I hear you Willie. Have you taken your kids through a video store lately? On eye level with the little kids the covers on the dvds are so gross: either rotting corpses, people being sawn in half, eyes gouged out and so forth. They should have plain brown wrappers they are so bad. I do think public tv is too suggestive sexually for kids but again, I worry even more about the violence and gore.
